Old meets new in customised playground
The landscape architect behind the new playground in Ramsden Park, Toronto, had a vision to create something new and exciting, but through including something old. By old, she meant incorporating both the city’s heritage and some time-tested favourites from the existing KOMPAN playground. The new playground uses yellow colours and themes from Toronto’s history of brick, and has maintained several of the timeless play items from the old playground, like the iconic Crazy Hen. After giving years of pleasure in its former location, the first of the revolutionary springers is still in great shape and has become part of the new playground.
A park packed with play for all ages
If you pass by Ramsden Park at mid-day you will find it packed with families. The park's new playground has play zones that offer age-appropriate play for all children. Located in the middle of the playground, the large customised Corocord tower is the draw for the older children. Climbing through its infinite net of ropes offers a fun challenge that has the ultimate reward of a fast trip down the slide. Leading up to the Corocord tower are long tracks of agility nets that offer vertical climbing and intense development of balancing and coordination skills.
Various springers and seesaws in playful designs will give children of all ages hours of rocking fun, either alone or with friends. The Supernova offers a fun challenge for larger children through a good ‘spin off’ with friends.
We are firm users of KOMPAN. You can customise it, that's really great, and then you just know that once you install it - it can last for 30+ years.
